SUMMARY:Venus in Furs
DESCRIPTION:March 9\, 2024 – April 6\, 2024 \nVenus in Furs (1870) the novel by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch\, remains a renowned book in the collective memory: Severin\, a simple man\, tells his absolute devotion for Wanda\, a woman that he identifies as Venus\, the goddess of love. In Severin’s room\, a painting dominates the setting\, he said the artwork was inspired by Tiziano’s Venus in the mirror\, which depicts a northern Venus wearing only a fur coat: she is the incarnation of the perfect woman according to his fantasies. But the protagonist rebels and emancipates herself from the ideal she is associated to by taking her fur off\, the same fur that imprisoned her in a role. Venus in Furs is the final affirmation both of the desire of self expression and of the creative instinct conceived as a generating force on a deeper level. \nThe collective exhibition “Venus in Furs” brings together a group of artists who have decided to express their creativity and their artworks projecting them as a life driven energy\, the famous Eros described by Freud\, named from the Greek god of love. \nEach artist dialogs returning a large fresco where different areas of research investigate the contemporary fabric of existence using different mediums. We talk about the theme of memory and the perception of time\, memories from the past\, the unconscious and its unexplored places\, crossing the female body that appears sinuous and fluctuating like a veil or a sculpture. The woman and her nowadays representation is examined while living her classic role of angel of the hearth. The female image is painted while she is locked up in suffocating domestic settings permeated with inflorescences or while dealing with common chores. The displayed artworks are also linked to current events\, to their social issues that involve anti-speciesism and the female world\, outlining painful paths that lead to rebirth and self-discovery. Art has the social value of bringing people together\, of unity\, art acts like a collective ritual where the Greek principle of kalocagathia reigns\, in this world beauty is goodness. \nThe collective exhibition “Venus in Furs” was possible thanks to the commitment of Loredana Galante\, Marta Mez and Antonella Casazza\, who created a committee that coordinated and fulfilled the project.

SUMMARY:Becoming
DESCRIPTION:20th april 2024 – 15th june 2024 \nIn her first solo exhibition entitled “Becoming” Erica Conti shows both paintings and drawings\, a personal research narrated throughout the body image. The human body\, a symbol that contains a double vision\, the coexistence of interiority and exteriority\, of carnality and spirituality. The artist describes it as a recovered heaven\, an elsewhere that we might immediately identify because it is situated just beyond our skin folds. The first step of “Becoming” is the knowledge of what is happening inside us. In Conti’s artworks there is a profound narration\, that might be difficult to be understood instantly. The painting discloses to the public through a slow rhythm\, embracing the spectator’s questions. “The main meaning and target of the exhibition are to encourage questions from the observer\, each question produces a tingling\, stirring the numb inclination to the realization of his own authenticity. This is how “Becoming” arises”. Colors\, mainly warm shades\, derived from earth powders\, recall the primitive human being and his carnality. The use of lights that concerns shadows and transparencies leads the spectator to a vision of the deep\, a spiritual and poetry vision that persuades him not to stop in front of an exclusively figurative representation. Conti’s art refers to classic art movement evoking Renaissance poses and features. The artist’s inspiration is also based on the historical period she lives in and she expresses throughout a contemporary language that seeks to be timeless. \n\nBIOGRAPHY\n \nErica Conti – Erì – is a painter born in 1991 in the province of Bologna. She attends the Art Institute in Ravenna where she develops a conflictual relationship with art\, this causes her to be estranged for ten years. She returns to approach drawing and painting only in 2016\, and in a few years it becomes her professional path. Today she lives and works as a painter near Cesena\, here she also teaches “drawing” at the Romagna Academy. \n \n\nEXHIBITIONS\n \n2023/24 – Marche Prize\, “Under Raffaello”\, Urbino (PU) curated by Camillo Langone. \n2023/24 – collective exhibition “Dell’umana dimensione\, arti e visioni contemporanee lungo la via Emilia”\, Palazzo Ducale\, Pavullo (MO) curated by Simona Negrini\, Alessandro Mescoli\, Ricognizioni sull’arte. \n2023 – finalist’s collective exhibition Mestre Prize of painting\, Centro Culturale Candiani\, Mestre (VE) \n2022 – collective exhibition “Profili”\, SAC – Spazio Arte Contemporanea\, Milano\, curated by di Nicoletta Candiani \n2022 – collective exhibition Art Prize Pallavicini\, Palazzo Pallavicni\, Bologna\, curated by Francesca Bogliolo and Claudia Andreotta \n2022 – collective exhibition “Ritratti Sociali”\, Museo Luigi Tonini\, Rimini\, curated by Sonia Patrocino \n2022 – urban installation\, Parco AUSA Rimini\, curated by EcoMuseo \n2022 – collective exhibition INSTABiffiArte\, Galleria Biffi Arte\, Piacenza\, curated by Stefano Gazzola\, Carlo Scagnelli and Susanna Gualazzini \n2022 – digital project “INSTABiffiArte”\, Galleria Biffi Arte\, Piacenza\, curated by Stefano Gazzola \n2022 – collective exhibition “Tre linguaggi femminili in arte”\, Palazzo dei Priori\, Volterra\, curated by Karen Lojelo \n2022 – collective exhibition “la bellezza salverà il mondo” LojeloArtGallery\, Volterra
